Chicago, IL- Produce Alliance LLC, the nation’s leading produce management, consulting and procurement company, launched the #PAPuckerface challenge in September with Limoneira to raise awareness of the 16.2 million children in the United States who struggle with hunger.

Produce Alliance and Limoneira combined their network of over 20,000 food industry partners to engage in the #PAPuckerface challenge.  Adults and children of all ages were encouraged to participate by biting into a lemon or lime and taking a picture or video of their best “puckerface” to post to social media with the hashtag #PAPuckerface.  Participants were also encouraged to make a donation to the Produce Alliance Foundation to support local and national organizations fighting childhood hunger.

As word of the campaign spread with over 2,500 social media posts and featured segments on local news stations including KOCO 5 Oklahoma, KSN3 in Kansas City, Fox17 Nashville, donations were received from all over the United States.  Due to the success of the campaign, Produce Alliance is proud to donate $10,000 to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization with a powerful and efficient network of 200 food banks across the country. The generosity of those that participated will provide 110,000 meals to children in need this holiday season.

Produce Alliance has also donated $500 to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey and $500 to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, providing over 5,000 meals to children in need.

Produce Alliance would like to recognize some of the top contributors of the Puckerface campaign including Get Fresh Produce, Willie Itule Produce, Sirna & Sons, LaGrasso Brothers, Keany Produce, Collins Brothers, Downtown Produce and Central Illinois Produce.
